It ALWAYS Gets Worse Before It Gets Better

That's how I'm keeping myself sane for the rest of this week. Our mess is even messier.... For now.

Remember when I told you that I was going to be purging my home? Well, I have to have a goal in front of me if I'm going to accomplish something.

Today, Joel and I put an ad in the paper, on Craigslist and an event on Facebook sharing that we were going to have our big Spry Family Garage Sale this coming Saturday! You heard me right... in 3 days!!!!

I spent most of today marking the big girls' clothing and shoes (over 300 pieces!) and tonight I did the baby clothes (too many to count!)

I just got finished going through the shirts in my closet trying to decide what I was going to keep and what needed a new home. I just emptied 103 hangers... in shirts people! Where, when and HOW did I get so many shirts? (I've only been wearing a small handful for a while so it is definitely time to let some go)

I'm not big on organizing a garage sale.... but I am desperate to give our main level of our home a complete makeover. I'm using our 'extra' to help fund the makeover.... new furniture, paint, window coverings, rugs, decorations, etc. It's a good thing I know there is a light at the end of this tunnel otherwise I would have thrown in the towel earlier today when it felt like my back was going to break in half.

When we first moved into our home just over 2 years ago, I didn't know what we would do with the space. Our walls are off white, the trim and interior doors are white and we have mini blinds folks!

I knew I wanted a place where we would feel comfortable having people over. We prayed for this home so we could open it up and share the love of The Lord here... but it feels like we have failed to do that. I've been so shy about letting people into our home because it didn't feel cozy. (I'm really not that vain but I wanted a place that would scream comfort and the starkness in here just isn't cutting it)

My sweet friend Cameryn came over this morning and helped me with a game plan. I'm excited to share it with you when we start working on the projects.

But until then.... I'll be putting stickers on the hundreds of 'extras' that will be going out our door Saturday morning... NEVER to return!

XO.
Jari

  1. Awesome!! So proud of you guys - it is a big thing to do (I know since we've been doing it too) Check out http://theproject333.com/ Steve has done it with his closet and it looks great - I'm not quite there yet but I'm trying to get there!! We want to eventually live in a "tiny house" we've been seeing a lot of stuff about that and the whole living with less mentality and this is one step :) Good luck on the sale!!
